April 2025 blend of links
Some links don’t call for a full blog post, but sometimes I still want to share some of the good stuff I encounter on the web.
Ambient music in iOS 18.4・I was very sceptical about this, but it turns out to be pretty good: no hits, no thrills, but smooth and discreet tracks. (via Michael Tsai)
Now you see it: Eric Kogan’s everyday urban illusions – in pictures・Looking at these pictures (and there are more on the photographer’s Instagram page), I’m 90% in admiration and 10% jealous.
Smartphone Pervasiveness, by Wouter Groeneveld・“I stop at a red light on the way to the supermarket and notice other drivers next to me automatically reaching for their phones because they have two seconds to spare that apparently absolutely need to be spend on more distraction/addiction feeding.” — Another excellent read available on the Brain Baking blog.
Fellow's Aiden Brewer, by Branch Creative・I’m a big fan of the timeless design of my good old Braun KF 47 coffee maker (in white), but this… yes please. (via Minimalissimo)
Quiche Browser・As I mentioned in my latest post, I’ve grown quite fond of this little browser on my iPhone. At first glance, it may look like a mere Safari skin, but it’s really well made, with a few nice and useful features.
15 rules for blogging, and my current streak・Matt Webb’s personal rules for blogging, including the timeless “Only write what’s in my head at that exact moment. It’s 10x faster” and “If it’s taking too long to write, stop.”
368 Chickens・Be ready to say goodbye to a few hours of your life. When you finish the game — I succeeded after 7 attempts — you can’t play again. (via Kottke)
150 Session・If I had to summarise my years in Paris, when I was 28 to 36 years old, this radio show would definitely be a main part of the “soundtrack” section. Now hosted at NTS Radio, 150 Session used to be hosted at Radio Cómeme, back in the SoundCloud days. ML’s voice is made for radio, the playlists are always surprising, moody, weird, and tend to paint a musical colour that is so pretty that I want it on all my walls.
The Citizen Caliber 0100・The price is far too high for me, but I have been fascinated by this watch for almost two years now, which means that it would have drifted by less than two seconds during that time. Incredible.
Parents Gently Explain To Child That Their Money In Heaven Now・One for the ages.
