December 2023 blend of links
Some links don’t call for a full blog post, but sometimes I still want to share some of the good stuff I encounter on the web.
Report reveals Jesus Christ may have benefited from father’s influential position to gain high-powered role as Lord and Savior・One of my all-time favourites from the Onion: “The selection of Jesus to become the Messiah appears to be a clear-cut case of nepotism.”
Plagiarism and You(Tube), by Harry Brewis・An incredibly important, fun, long, rich, fascinating, and entertaining video: YouTube at its very best. (via Pixel Envy)
AI and Trust, by Bruce Schneier・”Many countries are contemplating AI safety and security laws—the EU is the furthest along—but I think they are making a critical mistake. They try to regulate the AIs and not the humans behind them.” An absolute must-read. (via Dan Gillmor)
Nuform type, type foundry・The fonts look great, but the website looks incredible. (via Robin Rendle)
Nieman Lab. Predictions for Journalism, 2024・Every year during the holiday season I love reading some of these predictions: so many insightful comments and observations. And what a simple and great website design.
Hilda・The third and last season of what I seriously think is the best show on Netflix is out, and it is as good as ever. At first glance you might think that this is just a show for kids, but this is so much more; I find the Hilda universe exhilarating. I truly can’t wait to rewatch everything with my nephews when they are old enough (I already bought them a few Hilda books for their collection).
EP–133 K.O.II sampler・The ultimate “want but not need” object: even if I would barely use something like this, it would look amazing doing nothing on my desk.
StopTheMadness Pro・I mentioned it in my latest post, but Jeff Johnson released a new version of the great Safari extension StopTheMadness and this one solves its biggest problem: syncing between devices. This feature alone makes this new extension a proper must-have as far as I’m concerned.
Own Your Web・I’m really enjoying this newsletter by Matthias Ott: if you’re reading this, I bet you will enjoy it too.
