January 2025 blend of links

Some links don’t call for a full blog post, but sometimes I still want to share some of the good stuff I encounter on the web.

Watch Something Wonderful・Already one of the most useful bookmarks in my collection (via Dense Discovery)

Radiocast・Speaking of useful bookmarks, this is a great one: a few minutes after I started using it, I had already added two new great songs to my playlists. A great partner to the fantastic Radiooooo.

Electronic Body Music・While we are talking about music, I think this book would be right at home on my future bookshelves.

Timeguessr・A great little game to play during coffee breaks.

I Saw the Beginning of Hell in the California Fires・Lucy Sherriff wrote a terrifying piece covering the Los Angeles dramatic fires and managed to make readers understand and feel how quicky everything can go wrong.

Christian Marklay’s The Clock・“A 24-hour compendium of time-themed film clips, all synched to the time that appears on the clocks and watches within.” I need to own this movie.

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker announces The Orchid synthesizer, a new songwriting tool・Look at it. I don’t care what it does, I don’t care that I’m not a musician whatsoever, I just need this in my life (but I’m definitely not ready to pay $549 for it). (via Kushaiah Felisilda)

Well, this is what Jim Nielsen wants to demonstrate: “What’s Wrong With Social Share Images? Nothing inherently. But because they’re possible, everyone feels like they’re leaving clicks and pageviews on the table if they don’t implement them.

The 73 Best Illustrations of 2024・While it’s fun to mock random filler illustrations, some of them can indeed be fantastic works of art.

L’Oreal Suspends Production Of Irresistible 2-Step Lip Color Stick After Lab Rat Seduces Way Out Of Facility・In that case, the article’s illustration is very good.
